Doubling and Halving

The Taimana maths group have been working on a new multiplication strategy called doubling and halving. Aniva and Taufeeq demonstrated their learning today by recording themselves using the strategy.

Our Trip to the Auckland Museum

Survival Shelters

Last week the Y4 Syndicate spent the week getting involved in a deep learning task. They were set the task of designing a volcano proof shelter for their family to survive in for one week.

One of the digital tools that we have been learning to use is iMovie. We combined this learning with our natural disasters studies to create movies about storms.

Mt Roskill Campus Fia Fia Night

On Tuesday the 24th May, the Mt Roskill Campus had a Fia Fia Night. Here is a video with highlights of the performances.



On Wednesday Maka wrote a recount about the event.

Room 5 gutter board champions.

Room 5 have won the Year 4 gutter board competition. Today they took on the teachers and they won very convincingly! Vaka has written about the victory.

Letters to an Angry Bird

We have been writing letters to Red - the main character in the Angry Birds Movie that is out now.  We wrote explanations to help Red control his anger.

Digital Day

On Thursday the Year 4 Syndicate had a digital day! We spent the whole day moving around the four classrooms learning how to use digital tools for our learning. We were able to add a lot of new tools to our digital toolkits.

Charlotte's Web - Stop Motion

Another @ChapterChatNZ task! Bileanna and Tereana decided to have a go at making a stop motion movie about Charlotte's Web. This is the first time they have made one and they did it all by themselves. Stop motion is quite tricky and they have done a great job! Well done!
